Post-bariatric Surgery
If you have recently experienced significant weight loss after bariatric surgery, dieting, or pregnancy, you may bothered by excess skin on areas of your body. It can be very discouraging to achieve weight loss, yet still have to contend with excess skin that keeps you from wearing the clothes you’d like. Excess skin can cause daily discomfort by causing rashes and possibly skin infections. Post-weight loss cosmetic surgery can be an excellent solution for anyone who would like to have loose, excess skin removed from his or her body.
Dr. Van Wyck’s goal is to remove the extra skin in affected areas and leave scars which are as inconspicuous as possible. Procedures commonly performed include abdominoplasty, lateral thigh and buttock lifts, medial thigh lifts, breast lifts, arm lifts and facelifts. The surgeries are performed in a safe, certified facility one year after bypass surgery or when weight variations have ceased for three to six months.
There is presently a Bariatric Surgical Society which has been developed to focus on patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and require Plastic Surgery intervention.
